Which animals can you see at Neuwied Zoo?

More than 1,800 animals of around 185 species are there to marvel at in Neuwied Zoo. Mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and arthropods all have their home here. The zoo contributes to nature and species conservation by supporting the breeding and appropriate keeping of endangered species. The regular feeds are a particular highlight: at the penguin feeding the keepers explain what the animals eat and how they live. For children the zoo runs special workshops in which the little ones learn about the variety of species and how it is protected in the wild. That lets you spend the day at the zoo in peace, while your children are introduced to important subjects such as species and nature conservation and pick up interesting things about the animal world. The sessions are aimed at pre-school children and sixth-formers alike.

There are regular opportunities to join an exclusive tour after the zoo has closed. On the public evening tour you accompany the keepers on their round and watch the animals at their evening feed. For 15 EUR per person (age 3 and over) you experience the animals at close range and gain an insight into the very particular ways of the species from all over the world that live at the zoo.

By car, Neuwied Zoo is best reached on the A3 motorway from the north or the A48 from the south, and then along the B413.

Neuwied Zoo opens its gates daily from 9:00 to 18:00.

Children aged 3 to 15 pay 10.50 euros and adults from 16 pay 20.00 euros for a day ticket. Parking costs another 1.50 euros an hour, up to a maximum of 5.00 euros a day. As of August 2026.
